Last night we made hamburgers for dinner, so this evening we felt like something much lighter. Chuukadon, literally translated as “Chinese rice bowl,” is stir fried veggies and a little meat over rice. Anything ending in “don” is served in a bowl over rice.
My husband usually uses carrots, onion, baby bok choy or napa cabbage, and chicken or pork. Mushrooms would be a nice addition as well. The sauce consists of soy sauce, sugar, sake, ginger, and worcestershire sauce. We like to serve it with a boiled egg on top. ♡
