E Eats: Squash!


I’m glad I found out early on how easy making your own baby puree is. It’s economical as well as healthy for your little one. ♡

These organic white and summer squash came from our neighbor’s garden. She chopped them up and froze them in a Ziploc bag for us to use for E when he was ready for veggies. I just covered them with water and simmered them for 30 minutes. I left the peels on so I wanted to make sure that they cooked really well before trying to puree them.


We received a Ninja blender from my aunt as a wedding gift and it also came with a small food processor that really gets the job done. It pureed the squash well enough that I didn’t have to run it through a sieve. No lumps!


It only lasts a couple of days in the refrigerator, so I put most of it in an ice cube tray to freeze individual servings for later. After the cubes were frozen I took them out and put them in a labeled Ziploc bag.


It was a big hit!

E will be 6 months old next week, so I think at this early stage the most important thing is to get the puree as smooth as possible to make it easy to eat and digest. ♡
